Old Growth Forest Campaign Coordinator
 Position description
The internship provides the opportunity to learn GIS and GPS mapping skills, field measurement techniques, and legal documentation. The position involves office and field work, and is road and weather dependent. The coordinator will spend approximately four to five hours in the office prior to work in the field, creating maps and organizing volunteers. A ten to twelve hour field day will allow the coordinator and their volunteer teams to explore some of the last remaining old growth ecosystems, create plots to record necessary data, take photographs, and document their findings. Some of these areas are remote and accessible only by GPS equipment as they have neither trails nor roads. This allows a unique opportunity to visit areas that are secluded and observe wildlife which live in these irreplaceable habitats. A four to five hour post field day in the office is needed to update GIS maps, create declarations for our legal work, label and file photographs, data sheets, etc. The Old Growth Campaign Coordinator will focus on areas in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest, although there will be opportunities to do field work in the Colville National Forest, Kootenai National Forest, and the Umatilla National Forest which span areas over Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Oregon.
